Ready to take your engineering skills to the next level? In this follow-up to our first engineering camp, students will design, build, and test even more exciting projects! This camp focuses on advanced problem-solving, creativity, and real-world engineering applications. From balloon hovercrafts to hydraulic-powered machines, students will experiment with physics, mechanics, and forces through hands-on design challenges. Each day, they’ll face a new engineering challenge, testing and improving their designs while having a blast! 💡 Perfect for returning students or young engineers looking for brand-new challenges! 🚀 Why Join This Camp? ✅ New, advanced challenges—perfect for students who completed the first camp! ✅ Creative, problem-solving projects—each day brings a fresh engineering challenge! ✅ STEM learning made fun—students design, test, and improve their creations! 👷 Ready to engineer your way to success? Join us for this next-level challenge camp! 🎉
Metas de aprendizaje
1️⃣ Apply Engineering Concepts to Hands-On Challenges
Students will use scientific principles (such as forces, motion, and fluid mechanics) to design and test creative engineering solutions.
2️⃣ Develop Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Skills
Learners will experiment with different designs, analyze their results, and refine their projects to improve performance.
Programa de estudios
5 Lecciones
más de 1 SemanaLección 1:
Hovercraft Engineering Challenge 🚀
🌀 Objective: Build a hovercraft that glides smoothly across a surface!
What We’ll Learn:
✅ How air pressure and lift work in real hovercrafts
✅ How engineers use airflow to reduce friction
✅ Experimenting with balloon-powered propulsion
Activity:
🔹 Students will design and build their own hovercraft using a balloon, CD (or cardboard), and a bottle cap. Can they make it hover smoothly across a table?

Lección 2:
Hydraulic Lift: The Power of Water 💧
🛠️ Objective: Build a working hydraulic lift using syringes and tubes!
What We’ll Learn:
✅ The basics of fluid mechanics and hydraulic systems
✅ How engineers use hydraulics in construction and machinery
✅ How pressure transfers in closed fluid systems
Activity:
🔹 Students will create a hydraulic lifting system using syringes and tubing to lift small objects just like a real forklift or crane!
50 minutos de lección en vivo en línea
Lección 3:
Earthquake-Proof Structure Challenge 🌍
🏗️ Objective: Design a structure that can withstand a simulated earthquake!
What We’ll Learn:
✅ How engineers design buildings to resist earthquakes
✅ The importance of stable foundations and shock absorption
✅ Experimenting with different shapes and materials for strength
Activity:
🔹 Students will design and build a small structure using straws, marshmallows (or tape), and index cards. We will then simulate an earthquake (shaking the table) to test the strength of each structure!
50 minutos de lección en vivo en línea
Lección 4:
Parachute Drop Test 🪂
🪂 Objective: Design and test a parachute that can slow down a falling object!
What We’ll Learn:
✅ The physics of air resistance and drag
✅ How engineers design parachutes for safety (spacecraft landings, skydiving, etc.)
✅ Experimenting with different canopy shapes and materials
Activity:
🔹 Students will design a parachute for a small object (like a toy figure or weight) and test how slowly it can fall.

👨👩👧👦 Parental Guidance Statement
This class is designed for independent learners, but some activities may require light parental supervision, depending on the student’s experience. Parents are encouraged to:
Help gather materials before class so students can focus on building.
Supervise hands-on activities involving cutting, taping, or handling water (hydraulics day).
Encourage critical thinking by asking students to explain their designs.
Outschool classes take place in a safe, moderated environment, but learners should have a clear workspace for building and testing projects.
Lista de útiles escolares
🛠️ Materials List (Broken Down by Day) 🔹 Day 1 – Hovercraft Engineering Challenge 🚀 ✅ Materials Needed: 1 CD or cardboard disc (roughly the size of a CD) 1 balloon (standard size) 1 plastic bottle cap (from a water or soda bottle) Glue or strong tape (to attach the cap to the CD) Smooth surface to test hovercraft (table, floor, or poster board) 🔹 Day 2 – Hydraulic Lift: The Power of Water 💧 ✅ Materials Needed: 2-4 plastic syringes (without needles) (various sizes work) 1-2 feet of flexible tubing (fits snugly onto syringe tips) Cardboard pieces (for the base and lifting platform) Tape or glue (to assemble the structure) Small lightweight object (to lift, such as a toy figure or coin) 🔹 Day 3 – Earthquake-Proof Structure Challenge 🌍 ✅ Materials Needed: Plastic straws (at least 20 per student) Marshmallows or tape (for connecting straws) Index cards or small pieces of cardboard (to reinforce structures) Flat, sturdy surface (to build on) Something to simulate an earthquake (student can shake their structure or place it on a tray and gently move it back and forth) 🔹 Day 4 – Parachute Drop Test 🪂 ✅ Materials Needed: Plastic bag, tissue paper, or fabric scrap (to create the parachute) String (4 pieces, about 12 inches each) Small lightweight object (Lego figure, coin, or toy soldier) Tape or hole puncher (to attach strings to parachute) High surface to drop from (e.g., chair, staircase, or outdoor ledge) 🔹 Day 5 – DIY Zipline Transport System 🎢 ✅ Materials Needed: String (3-5 feet long) Plastic straw (to slide along the string) Paper clips or small binder clips (to attach the object) Tape (to secure string) Small object to transport (Lego figure, toy car, or small cup) Two stable surfaces to anchor the zipline (such as a doorknob, chair, or railing) 📝 Optional General Supplies for All Days: Scissors Tape (masking tape, duct tape, or clear tape as needed) Glue or hot glue (if parent-approved for stronger connections) Markers or pens (for labeling or decorating projects)
