Television, newspaper, radio, and online -- the news industry is one that is constantly evolving. Media is put under a microscope, criticized, praised, and misunderstood. In this one-time lesson, we are going to look at exactly what the media is and why they are so important to the dynamic of the United States.

The class will include a slide presentation with key information and discussion between teacher and students about their perception of the news media. It will also include statements from real journalists about why they chose this career and why they choose to remain, despite the criticism and challenges they face.
