Reading Newbery Award books exposes readers to high-quality literature that stimulates imagination, cultivates critical thinking, and fosters empathy through diverse narratives and compelling storytelling. In this class each week, students will read about half of one Newbery Award book before class and then come to class ready to discuss. Students will finish reading the book before the following class to discuss. The activities and skills covered in this class include trivia, quizzes, vocabulary retention, code-cracking, reading comprehension, critical thinking discussions, and puzzles. ⚠️Students must read the book (or the assigned chapters) before coming to class each week to get the class benefits. I cannot provide a copy of the book due to copyright laws. Otros detalles
Orientación para padres
Some of the Newbery Award books have themes of death and other difficult topics such as divorce and bullying. As with all my book clubs, death and difficult topics aren't the focus of the class but rather studying to see how characters choose to deal with these difficult times.
