This part 2 course meets for 4 weeks. Students will learn about the following topics listed throughout our multiday course. We will create our own brain models, conduct experiments, and at the end of each session (as time permits), students will have their knowledge tested through trivia games. Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience Master of Art in Teaching Professional Educator License Certified in Elementary Education 1-6th for Science, Literacy, Math, History, Social Studies
Session 1: Memory and the Brain -Memory Experiment -Materials: 2 sheets of paper, pen or pencil Session 2: Emotions and the Brain -Emotion Collage Activity - Materials: magazines with pictures of people, scissors, glue, white paper or white poster board. Session 3: Neuroplasticity & Having a Growth Mindset, Brain charades, reflections & Trivia -Students will act out the functions of the brain in an interactive game. The functions include: Vision, Smell, Taste, Touch, Hearing, Emotions, Movement, Memory, Speech, Heart Rate, Breathing, Thinking, Planning, Problem Solving, Reading,Control Hormones, Sleep, Balance, Eating, and Drinking -Student Project/Presentation Intro Session 4: Building our brain + Student Presentation.
-Safety is our top priority. I advise parents/guardians/adults to provide supervision during session 2 for our use of scissors.
