(MCER B2, C1, C2)

Experiencia de clase

As we look at the natural world around us, we see vibrant colors, don’t we? Green grass, yellow flowers, and red sunsets, for example. But do we see much blue? The color blue is quite rare in the natural world. Yes, there’s the blue sky and blue ocean, but not much else compared to the other brilliant shades of nature.

In our one-time class together, we’ll seek to understand why blue is so rare; why there are so few blue flowers and blue animals. We’ll look into the science behind the blue ocean; it’s much deeper than reflecting the blue of the sky. We’ll explore how the color blue is uniquely different. And, most importantly, we’ll discuss how our eyes see any colors at all.

We’ll discover:
❈ How blue is different than other visible colors
❈ What animals are truly blue
❈ Why bottled water isn’t blue
❈ And much more

This class displays the sciences of physics and chemistry in a unique and intriguing way that will engage all learners and spark a greater interest and understanding of the concepts presented.

There will be a slideshow presentation presented in the class to highlight the material being covered, along with the opportunity for each learner to share their knowledge and/or discuss this topic. No prior knowledge is needed to join this class. All learners are welcome to come and experience blue-nature’s rarest color!

Metas de aprendizaje

After completing this class learners will be able to:
❈ Describe how the color blue is unique in nature
❈ Identify how animals make the color blue
❈ Summarize how we see colors
