Light shines through our atmosphere from the sun. It warms us and helps plants grow. But, what is it? How does it move through the air? In this one-time class we will be looking at these two questions and others. We’ll try to understand how light behaves - does it travel like a wave in the Pacific ocean or like a bouncing ball. We will explore what electromagnetism is, how electromagnetic radiation was discovered, and how the sun creates light. We’ll discover: ❈ What is electromagnetic radiation ❈ Some history on the discovery of electromagnetic radiation ❈ How electricity and magnetism interact ❈ How light behaves This class puts forth physics subjects in an interesting and insightful way that will engage all learners sparking an increased interest of the concepts presented. During class a slideshow will be presented to highlight the material being covered along with the opportunity for each learner to share their knowledge and/or discuss this topic. No prior knowledge is needed to join this class. All learners are welcome to come and explore how one of nature’s wonders - light - travels through the air!
Metas de aprendizaje
After completing this class each learner will be able to:
❈ Identify electromagnetic radiation
❈ Summarize history on the discovery of electromagnetic radiation
❈ Describe how the sun creates light
❈ Describe how light behaves
