In this class we will spend our time outside exploring the vernal pools. We will talk about salamander lifecycles, and the importance of vernal pools. We will look under leaf litter for adult salamanders. We will also grab a net and see what things we find in the pools. The wetland I will be visiting does have salamander eggs present (April 18). Those should hatch and we should be able to find some larval salamanders! There were also tadpoles and frog eggs present. This is a very productive wetland and I am excited to explore it further with the students! We will also discuss the wildlife or other cool things from Mother Nature that we find on our trip. There may be a worksheet or activity to go along with the lesson.

I grew up exploring the outdoors in a rural town. These experiences led me down my career path. I have a bachelor's degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management. During college and since graduation I have worked in this field. Everyday I am teaching people about wildlife and habitat manipulation so they can attract species to their properties. Over the last 14 years I have taught people of all ages (prek ages through giving wildlife programs at assisted living centers). Most of the time I am teaching about trees and wildflowers and wildlife to adults. Each year though I give multiple different programs for kids of all ages for school programs, church groups, and summer camps. I love getting kids outside and teaching them about the fascinating things that are found in nature!Reseñas
