In this four-week class, learners will be introduced to some off the beaten path trails in Nova Scotia, Canada. During this process, learners will gain knowledge of the various plants, animals, and lichen in this province. The geology of the rocks and plate tectonics of this region will be discussed briefly. Nova Scotia will be explored from a more remote direction than the traditional tourist locations and the science and nature will be learned. Ten weeks are allocated for this course, but material could be covered in a much shorter timeframe. Course material is meant to be learning, but light and fun at the same time.

Learner will become aware of the natural beauty in the province of Nova Scotia. Learners will gain some knowledge of the plants and wildlife in the Maritimes and gain a sense of what life is like in Nova Scotia.

Learn about the more remote trails at Polly Cove, Burntcoat Head Park, Balancing Rock, etc. Where are the world's highest tides, carnivorous plants, and a huge monolithic rock located?
Lección 3:
Plants
Learn about unique plants in Nova Scotia - from carnivorous plants to sensitive delicate orchids!
Lección 4:
Wildlife in Nova Scotia
Learn that the following are present in Nova Scotia: deer, coyotes, whales, seals, osprey, etc.

Teacher Trudy grew up in Nova Scotia and continues to visit once per year there. Teacher has a degree in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Waterloo and has keen interest in the gardening of native plants in both Nova Scotia and Ontario.
