This club will be a fun way to explore the world together! From the chimpanzees of the equatorial African rainforests to the pink river dolphins of the Amazon, the grizzly bears of Alaska, and the Tasmanian devils of Australia, we will take a closer look at the ecosystems that are home to some of the most interesting, and often endangered, creatures on earth. To start out, we will be spending three weeks on each continent. The featured regions listed below are places that Miss Amalia has actually traveled in to participate in volunteer work with either children or animals. Students will be introduced to what different money from around the world looks like, plus information about cultures, biomes, flora, and fauna. Several different animals from each destination will be featured in a photo slideshow. Students will then have an opportunity for discussion, questions, games, and interaction with program animals. Some weeks we may be able to feed Scaly the snake a mouse, or Slimy the salamander crickets. Supplemental art and/or science project suggestions will be included based on the weekly theme. Each class will be different from, and independent of every other class. During ongoing classes, learners can attend either one or all of the classes, and can join in at any time. Weekly themes are below for 2024. North America September 18: Alaskan Tundra September 25: Yellowstone National Park & Sonoran Desert October 2: Central American Rainforest South America October 9: Amazon Rainforest October 16: Pantanal October 23: Andes Mountains Africa October 30: African Savanna November 6: The Congo Basin Rainforest November 13: Madagascar Eurasia November 20: Borneo Rainforest PLEASE NOTE: Class will not be held on November 27 December 4: Island Archipelagos and Coral Reefs Oceania December 11: Australia: Outback Desert and Daintree Rainforest December 18: New Zealand Coastline Topics covered include: habitat, ecosystem, biome, savanna, arctic, rainforest, desert, primates, wildlife, continents, geography, terrestrial, arboreal, marine, aquatic, eco-regions, travel, reptiles, nature art, science experiments, teamwork

Orientación para padres
If we do feed the program animals, the snake eating a mouse could be considered sensitive content. This does not have to be a part of class though, and can easily be omitted if a parent prefers.
Lista de útiles escolares
Print outs will occasionally be provided, and basic art supplies (paper, coloring utensils, scissors) are recommended.
