I will provide a rubric to help the student understand the expectations for their final writing piece. Students will be introduced to this rubric throughout the course and then will receive a final grade based on this rubric.Experiencia de clase

In this self-paced class, we will work on creative story writing, focusing on one skill per week. Each pre-recorded lesson will demonstrate a key element of writing that will improve the student's writing skills. Topics include: using an outline, adding details, creating reader interest with a problem, creating reader interest with a solution, introducing new characters in your writing, describing characters, using emotion to develop your story, and finally how to revise and edit your draft. I love to write and would love to help your student grow to love it as well! After each pre-recorded lesson, your student will be given an assignment to complete related to the lesson. Once completed, the student may submit the draft to me weekly for feedback on strengths and areas they can improve. The student can also submit questions and comments in our classroom as they work on their assignment, and I will try to respond to their comment within the same day if possible. The culmination of the course will include submitting their final writing piece to me for a final grade using a writing rubric (details the writing expectations for a quality writing piece). I have taught for 19 years which includes 15 years in a public elementary school, and I am certified in Pre-K through 5th grade. I am very experienced and am prepared to help your child improve their writing skills.

How to Create a Story Outline
This lesson is about how to brainstorm story details using an outline. I will guide the student through my own example of using the outline and then provide the student with an opportunity to fill out their own outline. I will request the student submit their completed outline to receive feedback from me. 20 minutos de lecciones en video
Lección 2:
How to Add More Details
This lesson will introduce the student to filling in more detail in their writing. They will watch a pre-recorded video which demonstrates how I created more detail for my story. Then, the student will be asked to add more detail to their story and submit to me for feedback. 12 minutos de lecciones en video
Lección 3:
How to Create Reader Interest with a Problem
This lesson will demonstrate for students how to engage their readers by creating a dilemma in their story that the character must resolve. I will encourage students to think of a problem that their readers can relate to in order to elicit interest from their audience. 11 minutos de lecciones en video
Lección 4:
How to Create Reader Interest with a Solution
This lesson will be an extension of the previous lesson because students will learn how to find a creative solution to the problem they presented in the previous lesson's writing assignment. I will demonstrate how I determined a solution for a problem and show the student how they can do the same. 12 minutos de lecciones en video

Hello! I am so glad that you are interested in my classes! I strive to make learning fun and engaging for each student. I enjoy getting to know my students and help them grow academically.
My Background:
I have been a public school teacher at a Title I school for 15 years. My experience ranges from K-5th grade, and I have taught every academic subject: Math, Reading, ELA, Social Studies, and Science. I have worked as a homeroom teacher as well as an ESOL teacher. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Toccoa Falls College (2005 graduate) as well as a Master of Education Degree from North Georgia College & State University (2010 graduate). My Georgia teaching license is current. I have professional training in leadership, ESL Endorsement, reading and math support, and more!
I believe every child can succeed if given the right tools and positive encouragement. I have 15 years of experience working with a variety of learners from those who struggle and need a lot of patient guidance to those who excel and need a challenge! I see each learner as a precious gift and seek to provide the right support based on each child's needs. I also have homeschool experience so I can approach learning from your homeschool child's personal needs! It is a joy and blessing for me to teach! I hope you will allow me to teach and inspire your child!
