Class Experience: In Mystery Mates: Friendship & Conversation Skills Adventure, learners ages 9–14 will go on an exciting 8-week journey designed to help them build strong social skills, communicate more confidently, and form meaningful friendships—all while solving fun, age-appropriate mysteries. Each class is packed with hands-on, interactive learning, where students practice real-life friendship and communication strategies in a safe and encouraging environment. Through team-based mystery-solving activities, students will develop social confidence, emotional awareness, and verbal communication skills. What Will Be Taught? How to start and maintain conversations Active listening and giving thoughtful responses Reading body language and non-verbal cues Showing empathy and emotional awareness Asking open-ended, engaging questions Conflict resolution and ending conversations respectfully Teamwork and collaboration through problem-solving What Topics Will You Cover? Each week focuses on one key friendship or communication skill, reinforced through a mystery-based activity: How is Your Class Structured? Weekly Class Length: 55-60 minutes Class Format: Small group setting (to encourage interaction and discussion) Structure Per Class: Welcome & Icebreaker (5-10 min) Skill of the Week Mini Lesson (10-15 min) Interactive Activity or Game (15-20 min) Group Mystery Challenge (15-20 min) Wrap-Up & Friendship Tip of the Week (5 min) How Will You Teach? I use a student-centered, highly interactive teaching style that blends storytelling, role-play, games, and discussion. Visual aids such as slides and printable clue sheets are used for engagement. Each class features: Interactive mystery-solving scenarios Fun team-building games Role-playing conversations Student-led discussions Personal reflection and sharing time We also incorporate light journaling to track personal growth and reinforce each week's lesson. What’s Your Teaching Style? My teaching style is upbeat, welcoming, and inclusive. I aim to make every learner feel seen, heard, and valued. I combine structure with flexibility, so learners feel safe to express themselves while staying engaged in the material. I use humor, kindness, and creativity to connect with students and keep things fun while focusing on meaningful personal development. How Much Will Learners Interact With You? Students will interact with me and each other regularly throughout every class. I have over 25 years of experience working in education and professional development, including designing and delivering interactive courses for children, teens, and adults. I have worked closely with students across various age groups to develop life skills such as communication, leadership, and confidence-building.
As an IT trainer and life coach, I’ve led workshops and courses that help learners build self-esteem, practice effective communication, and navigate social situations in both academic and real-world settings. My background also includes coaching students on workplace etiquette, interview skills, and first impressions—skills that align closely with building friendships and strong social connections.
In addition, I’ve facilitated after-school programs and youth enrichment workshops that focus on teamwork, empathy, and personal growth. My teaching style is warm, inclusive, and highly interactive, creating a safe space for learners to practice new skills and build confidence.
