Word lists matching our spelling skill, as well as optional practice activities, will be provided as optional activities to continue learning.

Please note: This course is designed for older students who struggle with spelling. In order to protect their experience, learners must be at least 10 years of age to join the class. Please see my similar listing "Multi-Sensory Spelling Club (Orton-Gillingham)--Dyslexia-Friendly" if your learner is younger than 10.

Spelling is a difficult skill to master and even strong readers can struggle to spell words. Students succeed with spelling when they receive explicit, systematic spelling instruction. This class will allow students explicit instruction and practice to improve their spelling skills.

In this class, we will use "Pop-its" (Feel free to use any pop-it you have--or I will provide alternatives if you forget/don't have one) to segment words, then match sound/spelling combinations to those sounds to create words. 

Each class will include:
1. An Introductory Question
2. A Mini-lesson on the spelling rule or pattern (with game or activity)
3. Practice with Phonemic awareness (usually segmentation, also work with syllables--often with game or activity)
4. Dictation of words (Following the pop, write, check method).
5. Dictation of sentences

A word list will be provided each week for additional practice. It will include a variety of activities for appropriate at-home practice.
