Welcome to the Moving Minds Book Club! Are you an avid reader looking for a dynamic and engaging way to dive deeper into the books you're reading? Join us for a weekly journey through the pages of Audrey Covington Breaks the Rules by Karina Evans, where each session offers an opportunity to discuss and dissect a new portion of the book. A summary of "Audrey Covington Breaks the Rules" by Karina Evans from goodreads.com "A grandmother-granddaughter duo set off on the Hollywood adventure of a lifetime in this funny middle-grade novel about breaking rules, growing up, and finding yourself—perfect for fans of Wendy Mass and Booki Vivat. Audrey Covington’s parents are the textbook definition of strict—they don’t let Audrey stay up late or watch scary movies, and they definitely don’t let her go anywhere unsupervised. Audrey knows it’s best to just accept the way it is. But her friends decide her parents’ rules are getting in the way of all their fun and unceremoniously disinvite her from their annual start-of-summer slumber party so they aren’t tied down by boring Audrey. Now Audrey is stuck helping her parents move her former movie star grandmother into a luxury retirement community. When she finally manages to sneak off to her parents’ car to check her phone, her grandmother climbs into the driver’s seat and speeds off—not realizing Audrey is still in the back seat! After startling each other, they come to a deal: Audrey promises not to tell her parents where her grandma is if Audrey can join in on one last grand adventure—no rules allowed. But as the two make their way across Hollywood, they realize that the life they think they want might not be what they need." Each week, you'll be in charge of reading 2 chapters outside of class to be ready to discuss and analyze together! Whether you're new to talking about books you're enjoying or love to give detailed descriptions after every read, this class is for you. Although our discussions are student-led, I will be there to ensure our environment is safe for everyone and provide thought-provoking guidance for our conversations. Our schedule would look like this: Week 1: Meet and Greet! We will get to know the members of our book club, establish rules that suit the group, and develop goals for our time together. You are not expected to start reading your book before this class but you are expected to have it! AFTER this class, read chapters 1 and 2 (35 pages) before the next class. Week 2: Discuss Chapters 1 and 2. Read chapters 3 and 4 (47 pages) before the next class. Week 3: Discuss Chapters 3 and 4. Read chapters 5 and 6 (43 pages) before the next class. Week 4: Discuss Chapters 5 and 6. Read chapters 7 and 8 (45 pages) before the next class. Week 5: Discuss Chapters 7 and 8. Read chapters 9 and 10 (35 pages) before the next class. Week 6: Discuss Chapters 9 and 10. Read chapters 11 and 12 (42 pages) before the next class. Week 7: Discuss Chapters 11 and 12 and the overall opinion of the book! Here's more of what you can expect from our Moving Minds Book Club: Engaging Discussions: Dive deep into the themes, characters, and plot twists of each chapter as we unravel the story together. Fun and Creativity: Unleash your creativity through creative prompts, scenarios, and interactive activities that bring the book to life and enhance your understanding. Friendship and Community: Connect with peers who share your passion for reading, make new friends, and build a supportive community of fellow readers. Critical Thinking: Hone your critical thinking skills as we analyze the author's writing style, narrative techniques, and literary devices. Empathy and Understanding: Develop empathy and understanding as we explore diverse perspectives and experiences portrayed in literature. Join us to let your imagination soar, your curiosity ignite, and your love for reading flourish in the Moving Minds Book Club! Can't wait to meet you there!

I am passionate about teaching because for me, being an educator is not just a profession; it's a true calling that fills me with joy and purpose. As a teacher, my goal is to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of my students. I firmly believe that education is a transformative force that empowers individuals to reach their fullest potential. Guided by this belief, I strive to create a learning environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and a love for learning.
My teaching philosophy centers around equipping students with the tools they need to become lifelong learners. I am particularly passionate about children's literacy and recognize that being a skilled reader and critical thinker lays the foundation for lifelong learning.
My experience in education ranges from preschool to high school in various subjects through traditional classroom settings and private tutoring, online and in-person. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University's College of Education and Human Development.
You will find a little bit of everything in my courses! Whether they focus on reading, science, math, or other subjects, I provide a safe and nurturing space where learners can take risks, be challenged, and develop the knowledge and skills they need to excel. I am dedicated to creating engaging and interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring that every student feels seen, valued, and supported.
In addition to group classes, I also offer individual tutoring to provide personalized support to students who need it for any reason. This can include homework help, lessons over a specific topic, assistance in filling gaps in learning, enrichment, or test prep and study skills. If you're interested in this and don't see a desired time listed, please don't hesitate to reach out to me so we can find a schedule that works for both of us.
I am thrilled to be a part of your child’s educational journey. Thank you for being here!
