This class is designed specifically for children diagnosed with ASD ( Autism Spectrum Disorder ). Through carefully selected pairings of music and movement children learn to label their body parts, follow simple directions and will lengthen their attention span. We will then build on this foundation to learn simple communication skills so young learners are able to make their wants and needs known to parents or caregivers. In this class I will use nursery rhymes, finger plays and a variety of strategies to teach students how to pay attention, follow simple commands and directions and start to imitate sounds. These key skills will form the foundation for learning language and communication skills that help children interact positively with their family and friends. The class is 30 minutes long so parents have to make sure the child is ready and in a good mood when scheduling the class. Children are expected to watch me on the screen as I move about. Parents or caregivers are expected to be present for the entire class to model for children and to help them perform the movements and to participate in the class. The student needs to be able to hear the music we are singing and moving to. It is normal for caregivers to have to get children moving by actually moving their body parts for them for simple actions such as waving, stomping their feet or clapping at the appropriate time. It’s an active class and the caregiver who is present with the child should be strong enough to help the child move about physically and possibly move their body parts for them if they are unable to do it for themselves at the exact time that they need to.
Metas de aprendizaje

Necesidades de aprendizaje
This class is designed to support children between the ages of 3 and 5 diagnosed with Autism. Through the use of music and movement children learn how to pay attention to others, follow simple directions and increase their attention span.
Orientación para padres
Since movement is involved it’s important to set up the space beforehand to remove any furniture or items that can possibly fall on a child or get in the way of them moving about the space.
Ideally, parents or caregivers will prepare a space that is free of any toys or distractions that the child can access when the class is going on.
If a child has a favorite item they like to cling to ( blankie, stuffed animal, pacifier etc. ) it should be removed ahead class time so that the child can focus on the class. If you try to move it right before the class they may be too upset for class.

Nueva York Certificado de Docencia en Educación especial
As a New York City-based Special Educator, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting children with unique learning needs. My experience as an Early Interventionist in NYC allowed me to work closely with families of young children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, ADD, ODD, and other developmental disorders. Additionally, my time as an English Teacher in Japan deepened my understanding of diverse learning styles and cultural differences. Inspired by these experiences, I chose to homeschool my children.
While my public school experience provided a solid foundation, I realized that traditional schooling wasn't the best fit for my child. I sought a more personalized approach that would allow him to discover his unique talents and potential. From my own experience in public and private schools, I knew that a one-size-fits-all approach wouldn't meet his individual needs.
Homeschooling became the answer. It allowed me to create a customized learning environment tailored to my child's strengths and weaknesses. I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of individualized education, as my child flourished and developed a love of learning.
I'm offering this same personalized approach to Outschool. I teach a writing class for reluctant writers who need help getting started writing. I teach a fun daily spelling dictation because kids need the basics still and I also teach social skills classes for kids who need it. I’ll be adding new classes regularly so please have a look. Let's work together to unlock your child's full potential.
