Nivel Beginner

During the first part of the class, students will listen to the story accompanied by paintings of famous American Impressionist, Mary Cassatt.  As we discover her paintings of mothers and children, students will learn a few facts about Mary Cassatt and her connection with Impressionists.  Among other things, we will also discuss what makes characters in presented artworks look caring and affectionate. 

In the second part of the class, students will make an open-ended craft they can gift to their moms. 

🎨✂️🤩 My goal is threefold: to familiarize children with famous works of art, to inspire creativity, and to make kids realize that they are artists who can make their own choices about their creations. 


PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE LIST OF MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THE CRAFT. ALSO, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT FOR THE CRAFT PORTION OF THE CLASS, PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS RECOMMENDED FOR USING SCISSORS AND OTHER MATERIALS.

For the craft portion of the class, parental help is required for younger students (ages 4-5) and recommended for older students (ages 6-7) due to the use of scissors.

•	Paper towel tube OR toilet paper tube
•	Napkins OR tissue paper 
•	Aluminum foil 
•	Small piece of cardboard OR jar lids of any kind (like from jam, mayo, or peanut butter)
•	Construction paper
•	2-3 pipe cleaners OR drinking straws OR  old pencils
•	Small stickers (optional)
•	Scotch tape
•	Markers or crayons 
•	Glue

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente

I am a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia with bachelor degree in Psychology. Also, I studied Early Childhood Education in Israel and Ukraine. 

Before I started teaching on Outschool, I've being teaching creativity classes inspired by classical music and fine art  in afternoon preschool program working with Pre-K through 2 Grade children. Earlier, I was a homeschooling mom for 7 years.

I believe that childhood is the best time to inspire human creativity. By regularly exposing children to works of art and classical music as well as helping kids to process their experiences through games, crafts, and dramatic play, adults have an opportunity to cultivate their creativity.

I LOVE reading books in general and children's literature in particular. I think there are so many great and beautiful kids' books waiting to be discovered. I also love co-creating with the kids: bouncing my ideas of theirs.
