Campamento de lectura y escritura Montessori: Estudio de palabras para lectores emergentes

💙 Level 5 Word Study is designed for readers who are learning to read and spell complex words such as ‘firefighter.’ They are mastering many digraphs such as /i-e/ and /-igh/. They want to know more about word categories like 'opposites' and 'compound words.' 

💙 CLASS CONTENT: Each 45-minute session has individual attention, using the mute/unmute button to help learners focus and enjoy full participation! 
Via screen-sharing: 
1️⃣ 🎶 I sing a letter-sound song with a slideshow of pictures/lowercase print letters. The songs reinforce memorization of digraphs such as 'ai' for 'airport.

2️⃣ 🖼️ I introduce 8 colorful photos for a topic such as "synonyms," ('joyful/ecstatic') focusing on names, spellings and descriptions.

3️⃣ 📝 Using the dotted-font word list provided, I demonstrate writing each word twice while spelling the letter names.

4️⃣ 📖 Learners take turns to read a label, describe the picture or use their word in a sentence, and observe as I match each label with a picture. 

5️⃣ 🖼️ 📝 📖 We repeat the same process with another 8 photos: introduction, writing, reading and discussion. 

6️⃣ 🎉 I guide a fun cooperative BINGO game, emphasizing picture description, conversation and correct spelling. 

🥰 My teaching style is warm, attentive and patient. This class is similar to a Montessori classroom experience; a small group of mixed-age learners with a shared enthusiasm for vocabulary, letter sounds, spelling, conversation, and learning to read fluently!

03/24: simple plural nouns with /-s/ & /-es/ plural nouns e.g. ‘chauffeurs’ & ‘potatoes’
03/31: /-ies/ plural nouns & irregular plural nouns e.g. 'puppies' and 'mice.'
04/07:  homophones e.g. 'deer' and 'dear' & more homophones e.g. 'ate' and 'eight'
04/14: common puzzle words (sight words that are spelling ‘rule-breakers’) e.g. 'people' and 'laugh' & color names - sixteen hues e.g. 'vermilion' and 'aquamarine'
04/21: synonyms e.g. 'joyous' and 'delighted' & more synonyms e.g. 'calm' and 'peaceful'
04/28: antonyms e.g. 'cheerful' and 'discouraged' & more antonyms e.g. 'interior' and 'exterior'
05/05:  set #1 compound words e.g. 'bowtie' & set #2 compound words e.g. 'earring' 
5/12: set #3 compound words e.g. 'baseball' & set #4 compound words e.g. 'bedroom'
