I will be informally assessing children's progress throughout the month.Experiencia de clase
This course targets the kindergarten age group (5-6 year-olds). This is an ongoing circle time, students will get to know one another and learn social-emotional skills, language, science, and math in a fun, engaging Montessori way. Each month we will focus on different themes in all areas of learning (math, language, science, art, and social-emotional). The students will learn new songs, dance, read stories, and integrate art. This will be a four-day-a-week class (M-TH). This circle time will be hands-on and very engaging. I am an educator who loves to get to know my student's interests and go off of their needs/wants. This will also be an opportunity for students to socially interact with their peers and get to know one another through group discussions and games. It will be fun, inclusive, and engaging. The students in this class should have prior knowledge in letter recognition and concrete knowledge in numbers 1-20. We will be learning Montessori themes in language, math, geography, and science. For language, we will be practicing enrichment of vocabulary, development of writing skills, and the introduction of reading theory (phonetic elements, phonograms, digraphs, sight words, etc.). In math, students will learn about place value and, over time, will go into more abstract concepts like addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. For geography, we will be learning about the world around us, where we are in the world, different continents, land, air, water, and learn about different countries. For science subjects, we will be learning many different themes and these themes include science experiments, the life cycle of things, identifying parts of animals/plants, and digging deeper into the subject matter.
