Campamento de verano sobre paz y seguridad en el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas (edición de Ucrania)

Join this model United Nations experience and become a country delegate for a session of intensive debates, negotiations and resolutions. Learners will gain a deep understanding of the UN, it’s purposes and principles, it’s workings and it’s challenges. 

The first two classes will engage learners in discussions as we learn the details of how the UN Security Council operates. Then, each learner will be assigned to represent a country within the Security Council during important negotiations to solve the problems of aggression between two nations as the UNSC delegates struggle to find peaceful means of dispute resolution. A fictitious conflict between two fictitious countries will be the scenario in which the delegates find themselves, as they learn to argue, negotiate, critically think, compromise and ultimately to come together to find a peaceful resolution. 

Learners need no background knowledge of the UN, as the first classes will work to provide the necessary background knowledge.  Homework may be assigned to work in for the following day, such as preparing their argument for the Security Council meeting or researching previous similar situations to come before the Security Council. The ultimate goal of the course is that the learners have so much fun that they can’t believe how much they learned during their time at Model UN.
