Experiencia de clase

In these ongoing 28 exploring science classes, we will use a variety of tools and methods to conduct science inquiry and review. Then we will practice and discuss the new information together, we will use picture clues, realia, and play games to determine the correct answers.

During discussions, we will identify and describe the observations explored in class and learn new scientific vocabulary. During some lessons, we will have some mini-labs that can be used to enhance learning. If the class includes a lab I will notify parents as soon as they enroll and send them the list of items needed. The mini-labs items can be easily found.

We will also work together on our printouts that will be sent to parents in PDF form as soon as they enroll. If a parent cannot open a PDF file, please just contact me and I will send the sheets in a different format. Also, don’t worry if you didn’t get the worksheet printed out, you can do this activity with us on any sheet of paper.

This class is ideal for learners who are showing an interest in science and want a review. These lessons follow the National STEM standards for learning.

We will explore animals, earth science, life cycles, relationships among living things, sounds, electricity, magnets ecosystems, matter, space, solar systems, and machines. Please see the Learning goals for the breakdown of topics by week.

Welcome! My name is Allison, which is my middle name and what my friends and family call me. I'm excited to meet your child in my classroom. I'm happy to be here and to talk to you about my teaching background. I'm a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. I graduated with a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis on preschool and Gifted and Talented. I am a certified teacher, certified to teach grades PreK-8 with ESL in all subjects. I taught in a public school classroom, public school intervention, and adult education classes for 11 years. For three years, I was a successful private tutor for SAT/ACT and College Preparatory, where I successfully help many students increase their scores and obtain their University goals. Currently, I have been teaching nontraditional online ESL classes for over four years. My passions are teaching science, history, and math. My favorite thing to witness is the excitement a student displays when they grasp certain subjects they initially found difficult. Students should feel engaged and interested in their lessons by moving and engaging all their senses; therefore, I scaffold lessons using Kinesthetic, Visual, and Auditory examples for a deeper understanding of the material. Learning should be fun and have an adventurous spirit; therefore, I have a blended teaching style that includes discovery, positive reinforcement, and critical thinking.
