The class gives students an opportunity to learn a new redstone circuit or contraption! Students will work either in a group or by themselves to create a redstone contraption and incorporate it into the week’s build theme. Students may be amusement park tycoons; restaurant owners; pirates with their own working cannons! Each week, we will introduce a new theme and skill. It is recommended that students have some prior experience with redstone, hoppers, droppers, dispensers, pistons, etc. This class is not designed for players that are new to Minecraft. The class starts off introducing students to a particular redstone concept in Minecraft. Then students will be presented with a challenge that will test what they learned in fun and exciting ways. After you’ve experienced all the wonders of Minecraft, take a break and learn some cool redstone techniques to put together your next big contraption. For this class, only Minecraft Java Edition (not the Bedrock edition) for PC or Mac is supported. It is not compatible with iPads, tablets, phones, Chromebook, or game consoles. Students must purchase the Java Edition of Minecraft for their personal computers; tablets, Chromebook or consoles will not suffice. Students will: - Learn new redstone skills in Minecraft - Collaborate with other students to plan circuits and contraptions - Design and plan buildings and other locations for their challenge - Apply basic engineering knowledge to rise to a specific problem or challenge - Give instructions to others and accept feedback from teachers and peers alike - Use technology to accomplish goals
