This class is designed to support learners in expanding their understanding of Mindfulness & Art practices and nature topics while strengthening their social-emotional skills. In each class we'll explore Mindfulness and Process Art activities alongside nature and art concepts. Week 1Lesson 1Paint ExplorationsExploring ways of working with different types of paint and tools for manipulating paint. Prompts will include invitations to create your own paint using natural materials, explore DIY brushes and experiment with adding materials to paintings. Invitations to explore examples of colors in nature.Week 2Lesson 2Loose PartsExploring ways of working with loose parts such as small recyclable & natural materials. Invitations to explore mandalas, sculptural assemblages and symmetry in nature.Week 3Lesson 3Clay Dough & Squishy StuffExploring ways of working with "squishy" materials . Invitations to explore various types of squishy materials and related artwork alongside "squishy" things in nature (mushrooms, jellyfish, etc.)Week 4Lesson 4Nature ToolsExploring ways of using natural materials to create art. Invitations to explore leaf & flower prints, twig pens, nature rubbings alongside examples of different types of plants & flowers.Week 5Lesson 5Cardboard CreationsExploring ways of working with cardboard. Invitations to explore techniques for building with cardboard alongside examples of inspiring architecture (think Earthships/ Bio-Architecture)Week 6Lesson 6PaperExploring ways of working with paper. Invitations to explore trees.Week 7Lesson 7String ThingsExploring ways of creating with string, yarn &/or thread Invitations to explore creatures who create and/or create with "string-like things" (spiders, silk worms, sheep, orb weavers, etc.)Week 8Lesson 8Transforming PlasticExploring ways of creating with plastic. Learners will be invited to select different types of plastic materials for use in their art explorations. Invitations to explore visual elements such as opacity, light & shadow and more.Week 9Lesson 9Sticky SituationsExploring ways of creating with sticky materials such as tape and glue. Invitations to explore concepts related to stickiness in nature (including explorations of plants, fungus and more).

- Learners will gain a deeper understanding of process art, art materials & techniques, vocabulary words and Mindfulness skills.
- Learners will gain a deeper understanding of nature topics including seasonal changes, plants, creatures and weather.
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (200hr) and certified Children's Yoga Instructor (2015). I have 22 years experience as a Yoga practitioner and 5 years experience as a Yoga Instructor. I completed my MA ('22) in Innovative Early Childhood Education, focusing on the Reggio Emilia Approach, and I have a BFA ('04) in Studio / Visual Arts with 12 years experience as a Teaching Artist specializing in arts integration. I love creating and experiencing art of all kinds! 0 - 1 horas semanales fuera de clase

2 archivos disponibles al momento de la inscripción*space that is free from distractions (i.e. loud sounds, high-traffic area) * Learners are encouraged to choose and bring what they have at home (no need to buy anything special for the class!) All forms of art and materials are welcome- drawing, painting, collage, and sensory-based art exploration (using clay, slime, blocks, loose parts or any type of dry sensory materials, etc.). Please keep in mind that choices are empowering for children, but too many choices can be overwhelming. You know your child best, so please offer options and a class set-up that works best for them (and you!).
