¡Una juerga de compras de un millón de dólares!

In this Self-Paced class, students will be given an imaginary one million dollars to spend! Learners will be given "catalogs" of items with photos and prices to choose from and will keep track of their spending on a spreadsheet. We will learn how to make estimates by rounding to various place values, and how to add and subtract large numbers as we keep track of our account balance.  

Students will also be introduced to some other options for using their money other than buying "things," such as investing it, saving it, or donating it. Links to some videos that teach learners about finance will be shared, as well as links to some charitable websites that learners may decide they would want to donate to. 

Please note that while a Google Spreadsheet is shown and used as an example of how students might track their spending, this class is not primarily about how to use Spreadsheets to track a budget. Students are not explicitly taught how to create a spreadsheet or how to program one with formulas. The primary aim of this class is to practice rounding and adding and subtracting with large numbers. Students can use any method they choose for keeping track of their money.
