Experiencia de clase

In this self-paced class, students will discover some of my favorite formulas for making messy concoctions over a five week period. Some mixtures are extra gross and slimy and simply just to play with, while some our crazy edibles or ways to help your skin. Most of the mixtures are a hodgepodge of ingredients found around the house. The possibilities are endless once you get inspired to mix things up! It is because of many of these ooey-gooey globs that I fell in love with textures which led me to mud!!

Each session of this summer workshop style class, learners will find a video from me with the week’s theme and projects to try on their own time. During the hands-on lessons I talk about what is happening and bring a little science into the fun! Many great inventions came from accidents in chemistry in trying to create mixtures like these!

The flexible style of this camp allows learners to create their concoctions when it is convenient for them each day. Students are encourage to post pictures of videos of their mixtures each day and can email me via the classroom with questions. I try to answer quickly during the hours of 7:00am PT and 8:00pm PT during the camp. Each week I will add a surprise challenge or questions for students to answer and share in the classroom too as a way to build camaraderie and engagement. Participation includes introductions posts in a silly way, discussions, picture and video sharing.

I am hands-on and will definitely be creating a big mess each day too!

Lección 1:
Totally Gross
Parents might get mad at me for teaching this day's lesson. It's totally disgusting with fake wounds, fake snot and fake poop! Spend a day on these mixtures and they'll definitely look like they came out of your body rather than the kitchen cupboard. Gross but so cool!
Lección 2:
Gooey Glop and Sculpting It
This is the stuff that oozes and makes us all say "ahh!"
Lección 3:
Crazy Coolastic Colors
Potions that change color, clean paint water jelly are sure to wow everyone.
Lección 4:
Boom & Fizz
Have a blast whipping up a mess as we create mixtures that bubble and fizz.

Orientación para padres
Being a mad mixtures scientist at home is loads of fun, but safety is the most important thing. Anytime kids perform ingredient mixing they need to follow directions. Students should be encouraged to dress for a mess, wash their hands, watch everything first and then not mess with the formulas. Remind students to always keep concoctions way from eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Also, goggles and gloves are recommended for safety for some children.
Lista de útiles escolares

Enthusiastic mom of 2 kids, Lisa Ely first learned to garden from her dad in their backyard when she was 6. Ever since there has not been a pile of dirt that she didn’t want to get her hands in.

Lisa is creator of Learn, Giggle & Grow Garden Curriculum and the co-author of three books under the Kinder Gardens umbrella. She is currently working on her next book series and a multi-media, adventure gardening experience for families to learn more and be inspired every day.

Prior to launching her children’s and family gardening enterprise, Lisa traveled the world over and over as an award-winning non-fiction TV producer and director. Some of her credits, like CBSs The Amazing Race, Discovery’s Garden Police and a number of shows on HGTV (including the Rose Parade) have helped her learn more about her garden passion.

Lisa’s always been described as a big kid and it wasn’t until she had kids that people stopped looking at her a bit funny when she would start a mud ball fight or run through the sprinklers. She admits that she’s good at playing because she’s had years of practice! She lives by her new family motto of “We’re washable!”

Lisa loves being in front of group sharing her love of everything fun in the garden. Some of her favorite classes are focused on worm science, eating the rainbow, tomato talk, soil on the move and root, stems, oh my!

When she’s not gardening she’s often with her husband watching their kids play baseball, paddling a dragon boat or playing her own version of “Chopped” to get a nightly dinner on the table!
