Grado de EE. UU. 4 - 7
Each week we will meet and learn about a new President of the United States. This is a ongoing class that meets every week. The class is interactive and students are invited to participate, ask questions, and offer contributions to the classroom experience. We also use a program in this class called "Nearpod" where students will have access to my weekly slides, polls, VR of locations we are visiting that are pertinent to our president that week, videos -- and our "Time to Climb" quiz at the end of each class. Students participating in this class will not become experts on the presidents, but they will become familiar with them and this course also acts as a survery course of American history. Through studying the presidents, they'll have a feel for the general flow of American history. As an ongoing class, students can come and go anytime and benefit from any individual class, but students who participate for longer periods of time will have the added benefit of seeing how all of the individual presidents, when combined with all the presidents, create the story of American history. Each week as our president is introduced, students will learn: -Key Biographical Information -Defining moments of their life and political career -Core beliefs and ideas -Important speeches and events from their presidency -Legacy We will go through the presidents in order and when finished start again at the beginning. The first section of this class is scheduled to begin on Wedensday, August 24. We will begin with the first President of the United States, George Washington and will go in order. If you are joining after August 24, you can send me a message to find out where we are in the list of presidents. I will occasionally open new sections and start again at the beginning. If you are interested in joining this class and want to know where we are, send me a message. 1. George Washington April 30, 1789 March 4, 1797 2. John Adams March 4, 1797 March 4, 1801 3. We live in a big and fascinating world and one of my goals with my classes is to help kids develop an interest and appreciation for the world around them and different cultures. My classes draw from my own experiences as a world traveler. I've visited and lived abroad in twenty-two countries. I also have several years of experience in working with students as a teacher and mentor and look forward to having the opportunity to invest in the life of your learner. I love teaching but more than anything I love investing in the lives of young people and bringing them along on a journey.
