1 hora por semana. Practicing is encouraged, but should not be forced. This class is really an introduction into the love of playing an instrument and the love of music. Practicing goals could be: practice one piece three times today, or practice every piece you have been assigned three times each day at least four days per week.Evaluación

This is an introduction to piano for early beginners using the Pianimals Book A. This course/method book series is probably the most easily understood piano method around. I have had amazing success with young children at the piano using these books. Objectives: 1. Students will play for the teacher, if they have learned any pieces yet and feel comfortable doing so. I am trying to get an idea of what they know and of what they are capaple. 2. Proper positioning at the keyboard. 3. Finger numbers 4. Note names 5. Keyboard geography ( where high and low sounds, up and down on the keyboard) 6. What is a pitch 7. Beginning note reading starts, introducing note values (e.g. what is a quarter note) 8. Volume levels are introduced (playing loud and soft on the keyboard or piano) 9. Students learn to play by copying the teacher and by pre-reading music. 10. Review what we have learned so far by playing for each other and discussing what we have learned. Among the songs learned will be: Happy Birthday, Yankee Doodle, and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. A piano or keyboard is required. This class is for one child.

This book uses animals to introduce the notes names, so we will discuss animals a bit, though letters and numbers mostly, however. The main goal of this course is to introduce the joy of music and to build confidence that music is something the student can make!
The other goal is to cover the entire Book A.
Students vary at their personal rates of learning when it comes to learning any language. Music is no exception. To some, it comes easily, to others, not so much. We will not be bound by this syllabus, but will pay attention to the individual needs of the children at the keyboard/piano.
Week 1: Exploring the keyboard itself (several songs about key groups and locations on the keyboard). p. 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Week 2: Review of last week and continuation in the book: p. 8 and 9 (hi and low, loud and soft). P. 11 - finger numbers, p. 12, right hand placement, introduce playing using the book (p.13).
Week 3: p. 14, 15, 16.
Week 4: p. 17, 18, 19 , 20.
Week 5: p. 21 (Mary’s Lamb), review of previous weeks
Week 6.: p. 22 (Twinkle) and 23 (Ode to Joy), continued review if needed. Perform for each other.
Week 7: Introduce LH reading and playing, p. 24, 25. Preview p. 26 for homework.
Week 8: p. 26, 27 (Hot Cross Buns and cold Cross Buns)
Week 9. p. 28 (Yankee Doodle), p. 29, Introduce p. 30 Eensie Weensie Spider for homework
Week 10.: p 32-33 (Old Macdonald) and Class review, perform for each other.
The book has more pages: 34-40 making up 4 more songs. Hopefully, we can finish the book in 10 weeks. Most of my previous students have made it though in 8-10 weeks. If not, the students will leave with the knowledge and understanding of how to finish the book on their own.
Book purchase(s) required.

Orientación para padres
I know you may think your child is ready at age 5, but it is a rare child who is ready for this type of lesson at age 5. This is not a copy-me class, although some imitating is done. This is a reading based course. A child does not have to be able to read much or well, but reading numbers and letters is important. I will be referring to page numbers and actual numbers in a piece. Also, finger independence is rare at age 5.
Classes last between 15 and 20 minutes depending on the child, teacher’s discretion. I will be giving the homework assignments at the end of class. Please have a spiral notebook ready with a pen or pencil for writing assignments...or even better, post-it notes to stick on the pages you are working on!

A piano or keyboard is required. A pedal is not required for this course. Purchase of one book is required: Pianimals Book A. If student is progressing quickly, Pianimals Book B may be required as well. They may be purchased at https://www.pianimals.com/. If your student is motivated, I highly recommend buying both books, if only to save postage. This is a private seller (the authors are the sellers). (Amazon does have Book A right now, but not Book B, if that works for you.) This is a unique course, which I have used with great success for many years. It breaks music learning down differently and more incrementally than other piano methods. The first book of the Pianimals series (Book A) is taught by having students play right away using finger numbers only. Book B is taught using only note letter names. Then more traditional reading is introduced. It takes the initial struggle out of getting started reading music and allows students to build confidence, even at a young age. —->Classes last between 15 and 20 minutes depending on the child, teacher’s discretion. ——-I will be giving the homework assignments at the end of class. Please have a spiral notebook ready with a pen or pencil or even better, sticky (Post-it type) notes to use for help remembering assignments
