This is a broad introductory class that will cover a number of topics relating to medieval medicine. It is an ideal course for those who are interested in general history, the medieval time period, the study of diseases, or early medical practices. No prior classes or information is needed to be in this course, we will start with the basics and move on from that point. Over the course of eight weeks, we will be touching on a number of topics in class. The sections will be as follows: Section 1: Ancient Medicine Section 2: Herbal Remedies and Apothecaries Section 3: Christian, Jewish, and Islamic Beliefs and their Part in Medieval Medicine Sections 4 and 5: The Plagues and Other Diseases Section 6: Battlefield Medicine and Surgeries Section 7: Women's Health Section 8: Tudor Medicine, Progresses in Medieval Medicine, and the Renaissance I will be supplying all handouts and I will provide links for additional reading on the topics that on covered during each class. While the class will consist mostly of lecture points, I do highly encourage both discussion and questions in my classes. The environment I strive for is more along the lines of a roundtable discussion as opposed to a strictly sit and listen atmosphere.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría en Historia desde University of Nebraska at Kearney
I chose to offer this class because I find the topic to be both interesting and not one that is generally taught on a regular basis.
As for my background, I have a Master of Arts in Early European History, a certificate in Herbalism, and I have worked in the modern emergency medicine field for a number of years. Additionally, I write books that involve medieval folklore, superstitions, and herbal practices.
