Grado de EE. UU. Pre-Kindergarten - 1
If the course has dates that fall on a National holiday, an additional week will be offered to allow students extra time to turn in materials. No additional lessons will be given this extra week.

There is nothing religious in the first 10 lessons of the McGuffey Primer. In fact the McGuffey Primer was secularized.
The content of the readers changed drastically between McGuffey's 1836-1837 edition and the 1879 edition. The revised Readers were compiled to meet the needs of national unity and the dream of an American melting pot for the world's oppressed masses. The content of the books was secularized. McGuffey's name was featured on these revised editions, yet he neither contributed to them nor approved their content.

Students will learn to read sight words by viewing flash cards on google slides.Students must review the flash cards at least 3 times each day for the course to be effective. Teacher Theresa suggests morning, afternoon, and early evening.

Each lesson will begin with a video of Teacher Theresa introducing the sight words and phonics. Teacher Theresa will include color images whenever possible to accompany stories as many students are not interested in the original black and white images in the McGuffey Primer.

Each lesson will include a worksheet for further word study practice and handwriting. Teacher Theresa will post a video that demonstrates the pincer grasp. If your child struggles with the proper pencil holding technique please inform the teacher so additional resources can be recommended. Please complete your worksheet and post it to the classroom for teacher feedback.

Other activities will include: crafts, games, videos, and interactive quizzes

Students should post a photo of their crafts to the discussion board after completion and respond to at least one peers artwork. Teacher will provide feedback to every student.

We will use the classroom message board to create an interactive space to share our ideas and experiences. I want you to go on a scavenger hunts around your home to find something related to your sight words, Think of our classroom as a place to showcase your learning. I will be respond to classroom posts and peers are encouraged to respond as well, please remember to be kind. I want students to create one post for each lesson. Here are some acceptable Jam board ideas:
A picture of something related to the sight words (example: if the word is cat you could post a picture of your pet cat!)
A picture of a toy related to a sight word (example: stuffed Ratatouille animal for the word rat)
If you cannot find anything related to a word you could post a video of yourself demonstrating a word ( 10sec clip of you running for the word run)

Flash Card Writing Time:
Younger students ages 4-5
An adult can write the sight words on index card and the student trace over the letters with either a highlighter or a Gel highlighter (Gel Highlighters are more like a crayon and super fun for young children to use, Amazon link provided in resource section).
On the reverse draw a picture to explain your word

Older students (ages 6+) can write their sight words on index cards themselves.
I strongly encourage students to write consonants in black and vowels in a color of their choice. This will help your reader begin to decipher the difference between these types of letters.
On the reverse side of the card encourage your child to use the word in a sentence
