Lesson 1
Whole Number Addition
Students will add multi-digit numbers vertically. Problems with and without regrouping (carrying) will be included.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Whole Number Subtraction
Students will subtract multi-digit numbers vertically. Problems with and without decomposing (borrowing) will be included, including subtraction across zero.

Lesson 3
Equal Groups and Repeated Addition Models of Multiplication
Students will use the equal groups and repeated addition models of multiplication to model and solve multiplication and division problems.

Multiplication Strategies
Students will be introduced to a few strategies to help them solve unknown multiplication problems. This includes breaking apart difficult problems into easier ones, a "finger trick" for the nines times tables, and a couple of mnemonics to help them remember specific facts.

Multiplication Facts Review
Students will use the strategies they learned in order to solve multiplication facts with factors 0-12.

Students will use equal groups to model and solve division problems.

Students will solve division facts with factors 0-12.

Identifying Two-Dimensional Shapes
Students will define the following properties of two-dimensional shapes: side, vertex, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, right angle Students will identify the following shapes according to their properties: parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, pentagon, octagon, triangle.

Area and Perimeter of Rectangles
Students will calculate the area and perimeter of rectangles and answer using the appropriate units.
  • Students will be able to add and subtract multi-digit numbers vertically, with and without regrouping (carrying) and decomposition (borrowing)
  • Students will be able to solve multiplication and division facts containing factors 0-12.
  • Students will be able to identify and compare fractions using a variety of models.
  • Students will be able to classify two-dimensional shapes by their attributes.
  • Students will be able to calculate the area and perimeter of rectangles and give answers using the appropriate units.
  • Students will gain confidence in their math skills!
