Why this course?

Math Skills Builders are important for middle math success.  A strong math foundation is needed to understand concepts.  Learning is so much easier when the foundation is strong!  

This ongoing course will cover the essential math skills for grades 4-5!  Each 25 minute session will address an essential skill based on the book ****Mastering Essential Math Skills by Richard W. Fisher! ****

*Topics will be updated 4 weeks in advance as we progress through the course.  ****The topic orders are subject to change! We will NOT cycle back to the same topics but introduce a new essential skill each class until the entire book is covered.  

Please review the class schedule and pick one day of the week/time that works for you.  We will meet weekly on your selected day and time.

Class Structure: We will begin each session with an opening activity (excluding session 1).  Session 1 will be an introductory session.  I will review classroom and curriculum expectations for this ongoing course.  The students will learn and practice a NEW essential skill each week.  Each session will conclude with a summary of what was covered and what's coming next!  The class structure is purposed to introduce foundational skills needed for 4Th and 5th grade.

You can join or leave our class at any time!

Teaching Style:  Student-Centered !!!  LOTS of interactive activities, games and discussions !!!  Research proves that a student-centered instructional model is key to learning!  

Interaction Level:  Medium to High !!!  Students will have an opportunity to engage with me and each other through games, video clips and discussions!  It is my first priority to ensure the safety of all students so open chat and open microphone will be limited.  All interactive activities are selected to maximize learning while providing a safe environment to do so!
