En esta reunión única nos centraremos en resolver ecuaciones de un paso (incluidos ejemplos con números negativos). Se utilizará un acertijo decodificador con un chiste gracioso (quizás cursi) para reforzar estas habilidades.

Integers are everywhere! The more students are comfortable with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them, the easier it will be to perform skills such as: solving equations, evaluating formulas, or finding slope of a line. In this class, we will spend 5-15 minutes reviewing inverse operations and key words to help us identify the operation to use to solve a problem. We will then spend the remainder of class solving a decoder puzzle (The Math Teacher in the Ice and Snow) I am a firm believer in giving students think time, so time will be given for students to work independently before we share answers as a group. Instruction will be provided as needed, but students should have a basic understanding of how to add, subtract, multiply and divide before taking this class.

Learners should have paper and pencil to work out problems with me. If they need a multiplication chart or calculator as a support, I do not mind them using these materials. A link for an online calculator can be provided upon request.
