Discusiones de matemáticas: desafío de indagaciones numéricas

I'm a writer, a reader and a math puzzler! I've always had my nose in a book, a story half-written and a jigsaw (or Sudoku) puzzle in the works, and I bring my passion for learning and challenging myself to the students I teach. I have a Bachelor in English (minor in Psychology) and a Masters in Adolescence Education. Completion of that program led to my qualification as a certified New York State teacher of English for grades 7-12. Most of my time teaching has been in a High School Equivalency program, helping students age 16 through adult (some in their 60s!), who typically struggle to learn in "traditional" classes, to tackle content in all main subjects. I have spent several years assisting in Montessori schools, three years running my own Science and Art summer camp for elementary aged students, and three and a half years running outdoor education programming on a farm (including a summer camp!). I am passionate about inquiry style learning, or, in other words, asking students just the right questions, leading them through discussions that allow them to discover concepts for themselves. This method, and my wide interests in life, allow me to tackle many different subjects, but I have a particular passion for English and Math. I believe every learner is capable of success, and that there are as many different ways to understand a subject as there are learners!
