What Will Be Taught? This class provides students with a foundational understanding of music theory, focusing on reading and understanding musical notation. Students will learn essential concepts, such as the staff, clef signs, note values, time signatures, and measures, while gaining skills to read and interpret sheet music. What Topics Will You Cover? • The Staff • Clef Signs (Treble and Bass) • Line and Space Names for Notes • Musical Notation: Notes and Rests • Note Values (Whole, Half, Quarter, and Eighth Notes) • Time Signatures and Measures • Practical Exercises and Comprehensive Reviews How Is Your Class Structured? • 10-Week Fixed-Length Course: One session per week, each lasting 35 minutes. • Each lesson builds on the previous one, ensuring students grasp foundational concepts before moving on to more advanced topics. • The first 5 weeks introduce new topics, while weeks 6 and 10 are dedicated to interactive reviews to reinforce learning. How Will You Teach? • Interactive Lectures: I will explain concepts with clear examples, ensuring students understand each topic. • Visual Aids: Slides with musical examples will help illustrate key ideas and engage visual learners. • Hands-On Practice: Students will complete guided exercises in class, such as identifying notes and clapping rhythms. • Q&A and Discussion: Students can ask questions and discuss their understanding during class to ensure clarity.
