Dominando las matemáticas: conceptos y juegos de quinto grado

This class includes a short get to know you opening so that we can become friends and build relationships. We will then play a game and spend the remainder of the class learning a concept and practicing that concept. 
 I enjoy a lot of class participation and believe that the only way to tell if a child has learned is to practice that concept. Sometimes that occurs independently and other times we work together as a class.

 Following is our schedule:

Week one (week of 9/8) numbers to billions- writing and number sense
Week two (week of 9/15) place value to thousandth place (decimals)
Week three (week of 9/22) rounding, estimation and mental calculations
Week four (week of 9/29) fractions, whole numbers, mixed numbers
Week five (week of 10/6) division by two digit numbers
Week six (week of 10/13) adding and subtracting fractions with the same and different denominators
Week seven (week of 10/20) adding and subtracting fractions with whole numbers and mixed numbers
 Week eight (week of 10/27) multiplying fractions
Week nine (week of 11/3) dividing fractions
Week ten (week of 11/10) addition and subtraction of decimals
Week eleven (week of 11/17) money-making change
No class Thanksgiving week
Week twelve (week of 12/1) measuring to an eighth inch
Week thirteen (week of 12/8) multiplying to thousands by two digit and three digit numbers
Week fourteen (week of 12/15) perimeter and area formulas and square units
No class Christmas and New Years weeks
Week fifteen (week of 1/5) ratios
Week sixteen (week of 1/12) grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds
Week seventeen (week of 1/19) cups, pints, quarts, gallons
Week eighteen (week of 1/26) reading and evaluating data- charts, graphs, pictographs, pie graphs, line and bar graphs
Week nineteen (week of 2/2) tallies, frequency charts, stem and leaf plots, frequency charts
Week twenty (week of 2/9) multi-step word problems
Week twenty one (week of 2/16) changing percentages to fractions
Week twenty two (week of 2/23) percentages to decimals

Week twenty four (week of 3/10) horizontal, vertical, lines, intersecting, parallel, perpendicular, segments, rays, angles -right, acute, obtuse, straight, angle measurements

Week twenty six (week of 3/24) multiplication- three digit by thousands
Week twenty seven (week of 3/30) division by two digit number
