What will be taught? This class covers key 6th-grade Common Core math topics, including number sense, operations with fractions and decimals, ratios and proportions, percentages, algebraic expressions, equations, geometry, data analysis, and probability. Learners will build a strong foundation in these skills to prepare for success in middle school and beyond. What topics will I cover? The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in essential math concepts, including number operations, algebraic thinking, geometry, and data analysis. Students will develop critical problem-solving skills and apply mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios, ensuring a deeper understanding and readiness for more advanced math. Each week builds on previous knowledge, promoting confidence and mastery through engaging and interactive lessons. How is my class structured? How will I teach? I use a mix of interactive teaching methods to engage all learners: Slides: Clear, colorful slides for visual explanations. Games: Math games to reinforce concepts in a fun way. Real-World Problems: Contextual problems to show the practical use of math. Discussion and Collaboration: Group activities to encourage peer learning. Video Clips: Short, age-appropriate clips to illustrate abstract concepts. Breakout Rooms: Opportunities for small-group practice and support. What's my teaching style? My teaching style is engaging, supportive, and interactive. I aim to build confidence by breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps. I encourage questions, foster a growth mindset, and celebrate every success, no matter how small. My lessons are designed to meet students where they are and challenge them to reach their potential.
