Outer space is one of my favorite things to talk about, especially with children! I have found the enthusiasm with this subject to be contagious, and nothing thrills me more than a student that gets excited about space. No matter how old I get, I still love discovering new things about it. Luckily for all of us, there seems to be a brand new discovery or event every single day! In this class, we will discuss the many missions NASA has already taken to Mars, the 5 NASA rovers that are there, the one and only helicopter on another planet, and the unbelievable accomplishments already completed! We will talk about the unique discoveries that have been made on Mars and explore the idea of a future human existence there. It is a very real goal, and relentless efforts are being made to accomplish this goal! The beauty of this class for me is getting to hear what my students predict life on Mars could be like, if it's possible, what it would take to be possible, etc. The conversation can get really exciting and imaginative at times! It a fun topic to discuss, but we'll also take a serious approach to the possibility as well. This class excites me so much, and I look forward to teaching it and being a part of the students' exploration of the possibility. Our main focus will be Mars and the reasons to one day establish civilization there, however, this class is open to discussing all things outer space. Students can expect a conversational style class with plenty of open dialogue, questioning, and conversating about space. We will let the discussion guide us at times if everyone is participating. Everyone's opinion is welcome, as I want all students to feel comfortable interacting with me, and each other. We will learn fun facts about each rover, tell jokes, and I will send a Kahoot game after class that covers what we discussed (You do not need a Kahoot account. My link will take you directly to the game. 😁). Whether it's a one-on-one class or a group environment, my number one goal is always to inspire a love of learning new things. Come with me on an epic space adventure to Mars!
Metas de aprendizaje
My main goal as a teacher is always to launch a lifetime of space exploration and curiosity for my students, and inspire an enthusiasm in them to learn more about what exists beyond Earth. In this class, students will discover the ways scientists and astronauts have already explored Mars and examine what we've learned about this intriguing planet. We will take a look at missions happening right now, future missions with the goal of one day establishing civilization on Mars, and the relentless efforts being made to accomplish that goal. Finally, my favorite part about this class is getting to hear how each student feels about all of this! I want to talk about the things in class that peaked their curiosities and focus more on those things. I want to help motivate an excitement and passion to explore this possibility because the concept of moving to Mars is overflowing with fascination, controversy, and adventure. Blast off with me! 🚀
