Currently, personal EV cars only represent 2% of the market share. In April 2021, the Biden administration is prepared to significantly change that. They have announced $100 billion in subside into EV at the point of sale. In addition to this, $15 billion will be used to expand the charging infrastructure by adding 500,000 domestic charging stations. In comparison, the Obama administration allocated $2.4 billion which meant $7,500 is given as a tax credit for each car. News such as these and random tweets from Elon Musk have serious implications for our future. We will start this class by evaluating the big picture of the EV market using the Product Life Cycle (PLC). We will discuss the four stages in the PLC which are intro, growth, maturity, and decline. Next, we will narrow our focus on the impact of Tesla as the 1st mass producer to the market. I have prepared a SWOTT Analysis for our class to have a lively discussion. SWOTT Analysis is used to identify the company's internal strengths and weaknesses and the opportunities, threats, and trends in the external environment. It is the main part of the Strategic Planning Process which I will go over in general terms.
