Grado de EE. UU. 3 - 5
Nivel Beginner
In this 4-week, self-paced class, learners will explore 4 different oceanography concepts through the creation and sharing of activity based learning projects.

Each week learners will be provided with text and video video based content on the following ecosystems.
Week 1: Ocean Zonation
This week learners will explore the the 5 zones of the ocean depths by simulating surface light filtration.
Week 2: Motion in the Ocean
This week learners will explore the formation of wind driven ocean currents with the creation of a model ocean basin.
Week 3: Rise and Fall
This week learners will explore the mechanisms of tide formation in the ocean by creating a model.
Week 4: Frozen Ocean
This week learners will explore the importance and formation of sea ice with an experiment.

Each week includes an instructional video and activity demonstration with written instructions. The full self-paced course includes weekly reflection and a quiz as assessments.

Metas de aprendizaje
Upon completion of this class learners will be able to:
-describe the mechanisms of tide formation.
-describe the 5 ocean zones and how light is filters with in each zone.
-describe the formation of ocean gyres and the effect of wind on surface currents.
-describe the formation of sea ice.
-differentiate between sea ice and glaciers.
-describe importance physical oceanographic process on marine ecosystems.
