The diversity of aquatic and semi-aquatic creatures is incredible. From the elegance of the blanket octopus to the strong venom of the box jelly these creatures are ready to shock you with their amazing adaptations. Two aquatic (or semi-aquatic) animals take the spotlight in each of these weekly, fact-filled lessons. The animals will include a variety of invertebrates, mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians and seabirds. There are twenty-two classes of two creatures each before the sessions repeat. *Each class is independent from each other. Therefore, students can drop in at any time. If a student comes in during the middle of a session, it's no problem! The sessions will eventually repeat and they can continue through the loop until they are back to the first class they took. This class will be more of a lecture style (yet interactive) class with a PowerPoint, photos, videos, and fascinating facts. We will have conversations about these creatures and students are encouraged to ask questions and discuss (although are also welcome to just absorb the information if they prefer). At the end of each class, we will play a short trivia game about what we’ve learned. Participation in the game is optional and students are welcome to watch or answer privately. Being a scuba diver, avid traveler, and having worked with many animals (including marine animals), I will also be using personal experiences within the content when I can! Animals by Week: Week One - Great White Sharks and Frogfish Week Two – Coelacanths and Leopard Seals Week Three – Anhingas and Alligator Snapping Turtles Week Four – Box Jellies and Lionfish Week Five – Oysters and Nautilus Week Six – Nudibranchs and Marlins Week Seven – Shoebills and Vampire Fish ➡️ Week Eight – Sperm Whales and Marine Iguanas Week Nine – Hippos and Cone Snails Week Ten – Greenland Sharks and Yeti Crabs Week Eleven – Blobfish and Caiman Lizards Week Twelve – Beavers and Oarfish Week Thirteen – Narwhals and Puffins Week Fourteen – Leeches and Fishing Cats Week Fifteen – Leopard Frogs and Parrotfish Week Sixteen – Walking Catfish and Capybaras Week Seventeen – Fishing Spiders and Sailfin Lizards Week Eighteen – Mudskippers and Common Watersnakes Week Nineteen – Barracudas and Great Blue Herons Week Twenty – American Alligator sand Blanket Octopuses Week Twenty-One – Wolf Eels and Basilisks Week Twenty-Two – Stargazers and Steller’s Sea Eagles (The ➡️ indicates where we currently are in the cycle) (This updates by end of day each Saturday EST) Course Photo Credit - Ray Hennessy of Unsplash

I have a strong passion for animals and have even worked in a large aquarium with creatures such as stingrays, jellyfish and many fish species. I love getting others excited about the animal kingdom and feel as though I can approach this topic with a lot of fun and excitement for the learners.
