Who doesn't love a good guessing game? In this fun and interactive class, students will become word detectives. In each class, children will be given a set of letters and an opportunity to discover more about letter-sound relationships and how these relationships work in words. These activities will help students increase their reading and spelling abilities. In each class, I will guide students to spell words beginning with short two or three letter words, and advance throughout class to spell longer and more difficult words, all while discussing the phonemes and letter sounds used to create words and discuss common orthography which helps learners to transfer their knowledge to the spelling and reading of English words. They will also be challenged to make meaning of these word by using them in sentences. If your child has a basic knowledge of letter sounds, and you're looking to build their reading, spelling, and vocabulary strength, this is the perfect class. This class is taught with the younger student in mind, but I love having older students attend who may need spelling and phonics review and encouragement!
