Students will need to bake their macaron shells overnight as homework.Experiencia de clase
This course is a two-day session that teaches students how to make the ever-so-popular French macarons. We will be making a pretty simple recipe of macarons that I've personally tried many times. They are always a hit at every party! Over the course of the first day, we will make the macarons and pipe them onto our tray. There is a sitting period where the macarons need to harden before the baking. During the second day, we will be making the filling and piping the filling onto the macarons to make the cookie. Finally, we will decorate our macarons in a Halloween themed jack-o-lantern! Day 1 - Welcome, gathering the ingredients, sifting, and creating the batter. We will also pipe the cookie shells. Homework - Bake the shells after they have hardened. Day 2 - Making the filling, piping, constructing the cookie, and decorating - HALLOWEEN style! At the end, we will sample our macrons with a little miniature party. So fun! PLEASE NOTE - If you have a food allergy that involves ALMONDS, we are using almond flour in the recipe.***

Hi there!
My name is Mrs. Rodenbeck and I am a middle school history teacher! I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th, grade history for the past 5 years! Before that, I taught high school history. I absolutely LOVE learning about people from the past! I like understanding how people lived in different times in history.
I studied anthropology in college. My goal as a kid was to be Indiana Jones! Archaeology and cultural anthropology are my favorite disciplines. I like to learn about what past peoples have built and how those things impact their culture. I’ve even done work for Chicago’s Field Museum since 2007. Now I work in the education department at the Field Museum with other teachers and bringing history topics into their classrooms.
I love teaching about the American Girl books and their periods of time in history because I used to WORK at the American Girl store in Chicago. I worked there all throughout my college years. I loved American Girl when I was a kid and I loved it, even more, when I worked at the store in college!
I also LOVE macarons and eat quite a few of them! :)
