Each of my one on one Magic the Gathering tutoring sessions is specifically designed to the needs of the student. From How to Play Magic the Gathering to preparing for tournament play, from building your first deck to advanced play concepts, I am able to create a lesson plan for any Magic the Gathering topic. Each class is structured to include plenty of opportunity for student and tutor interaction. Fun should be the number one goal of playing Magic the Gathering, while providing the student with opportunities to improve their critical thinking, social, math and other skills. Game play can also be added as desired by the student for practical play experience. Lessons are not lecture driven. Instead, a conversational approach is used. The goal is to engage learners, allowing their natural curiosity to expand their knowledge and skills. Students need no prior knowledge of the game for basic lessons.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will increase their knowledge of Magic the Gathering in the areas of their interest.

Orientación para padres
The manufacturer of Magic the Gathering has this game rated as ages 13 and up. My experience has shown me most children 9 and up are mature enough to play the game. The game does have vampires, zombies and other "creatures," and artistic depictions of those characters, that may disturb some children, though I have never actually heard that was anyone's experience.
Lista de útiles escolares
If student has a camera that allows them to display an apx 24" x 12" surface, student and tutor may play games in class. This is not needed in most classes.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello fans of Magic the Gathering (and their parents)!
Following a forty year career in publishing and as a small business owner, including running a Magic the Gathering (MTG) game store, I have embarked on a new passion; sharing my knowledge of, and love of, Magic the Gathering to students all over the world.
My tutoring and teaching experience includes students aged 4 to 40. I have taught in a pre-school, tutored college students in English and writing, mentored professional writers and helped hundreds learn Magic the Gathering or improve their game play. Recently, I obtained certification as a Level 5 English as a Second Language instructor to gain additional insights in becoming the best teacher/mentor possible.
I have been playing Magic the Gathering since it first came out in 1993. During that time I have played thousands of games, taken part in hundreds of local and national tournaments and taught dozens of new players how to play the game, as well as mentoring established players on the game's finer points. I am passionate about teaching not only how to play the game, but also mentoring students in the critical thinking, mathmatics, social skills, sportsmanship and other life skills which are part of the game. My favorite thing about Magic the Gathering is just how much fun it is to play, while also providing so many lessons that can enhance your life.
Feel free to message me if you would like to schedule an individual class or classes on any aspect of MTG. From how to play the game to advanced tournament preparation, let's take your Magic the Gathering skills to the next level and have tons of fun while learning the world's #1 trading card game!
