Welcome to Little Learners Loving Literacy! This online 1st-grade comprehensive literacy class is designed to build on foundational skills while fostering growing independence in reading, writing, and communication. This program focuses on phonics, spelling, sight words, reading fluency, writing development, and grammar, creating a balanced approach to literacy learning.

In this class, students will deepen their understanding of phonics by learning to decode words with blends, digraphs, and vowel teams, while also strengthening their spelling skills through targeted practice of high-frequency and pattern-based words. Sight word recognition will be expanded to improve reading fluency and comprehension.

Reading instruction emphasizes fluency, accuracy, and comprehension strategies, including making predictions, identifying the main idea, and sequencing events. Students will explore a variety of text types, such as stories, informational texts, and poems, to develop critical thinking and a love for reading.

Writing lessons will focus on sentence structure, organizing ideas, and composing short paragraphs. Students will learn to write stories, opinion pieces, and informational texts, using clear sentences with proper capitalization and punctuation. Grammar instruction will cover basic parts of speech, including nouns, verbs, and adjectives, as well as introducing concepts like contractions, plural forms, and subject-verb agreement.

This interactive online class features engaging activities, games, and digital tools to keep students motivated. Small group instruction and individual support ensure every child receives personalized attention to meet their learning needs. By the end of the program, students will have developed stronger literacy skills, confidence, and a passion for reading and writing!
