Through careful examination, learners and I will identify different types of figurative language found in the lyrics of Frozen songs. Types of figurative language will be explicitly taught during class through examples, google slides, and open discussions. For the purpose of delivering standards based ELA instruction, figurative language in this session includes: simile, metaphors, alliteration, personification, irony, hyperbole, and idioms. Other types of figurative language examples may also be used in instruction. Sessions will be taught with a Balanced Literacy approach using the GRR Model. All learners will be given opportunities to practice their reading skills using the "I do, We do, You do" method. Students will also write their own examples of figurative language during class. This approach, will help students develop reading and writing skills through combined balanced literacy.
