There isn't any homework other than completing the drawing after class if needed.Experiencia de clase
We're going to draw a cat with a bit of architecture around him using pencils. Although this is just one drawing, you will learn so much! First of all, we'll talk a bit about some drawing supplies and how you can use them. Then we'll dive into sketching some basic shapes to set up the composition. We'll discuss why it's super helpful to start that way and get proportions as close as possible to set ourselves up for success. Then we'll take a look at how to create texture, especially cat fur which can be tricky! As we draw, we'll gradually add more and more shadows....or light as needed. I'll teach how to avoid common drawing mistakes along the way. Although we'll have a certain drawing as our end goal, my art teaching style is more "practice and process" oriented than requiring a perfect result. In other words, I want you to enjoy the journey of drawing most of all because I truly believe that just doing this work and listening to what I teach along the way will cause you to make progress! No matter your drawing level, come give this a try. This is a judgment free zone!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn some tips on how to best use pencils, erasers, paper, and blender stumps (or tortillons) in order to avoid common mistakes and lower frustration levels. We'll go through the entire drawing process from setting up the composition with simple shapes to adding more and more texture to adding light and shadow.

Lista de útiles escolares
-Pencil - this can be just a regular yellow number 2 pencil. If you have any other pencils, such as a 4b, that's awesome! -Eraser - this can be an eraser on your pencil, a regular "pink pearl" eraser, or any other kind you have. -Paper - some thick drawing paper is nice, but you may use any kind you have Optional: a blending stump (or tortillon), an extra piece of scrap paper to put under your hand to avoid smearing the drawing, and a clean, dry paintbrush for sweeping away eraser bits
