All organisms, including plants and animals, go through stages of growth and development known
as life cycles.

This series of lessons helps students learn about the similarities and differences between
the life cycles of plants and animals, including the stages that are common to both types of organisms
(birth, growth, reproduction, and death). Please note that the human life cycle is not used as an
example in this series of lessons.

Students will take a closer look at the physical traits that
characterize specific types of plants and animals, considering how traits can vary among families and
populations.

Finally, students will study how certain traits are helpful
or harmful to organisms and how such traits can matter when environments change.

Class Structure

I use a multi-media presentation style to engage learners. Individual lessons may a combination of lecture, text, games, video clips, discussion or reflection, as well as handouts.

Students may demonstrate their learning through reading out loud, writing in chat, completing worksheets or taking notes in a journal. Each class has ample opportunity for individualized student engagement as I keep the class size small to allow for extra wait time and discussion.
