Reading with Phonics: Long Vowel Words With Mrs. Rose (Level 6): In this class, students will read one and two syllable words with long vowels (cvce words). Using letter symbol cues and pictures, students will practice the sounds, how to blend, and read words with long vowels. A worksheet is provided for the student to support the activity in class, for word and hand writing practice. Students will be exposed to oral language practice for phonemic awareness (recognition and play with sounds), fine motor skills to increase writing ability, and phonics skills to read words. Powerpoints are used as the main presentation. Digital reading books will be used as needed, to supplement the practice of reading words in text. ***Students must know all letters, sounds, and decoding short vowel words to be successful in this class.***

***In order for me to assist your child while reading, I do require cameras to be turned on during class. I need to be able to see their mouths and how they are forming the sounds in words.***

Week 4: 
Read and build long /u/ words cvce pattern (example: fume, cute)
Writing long /u/ words 

Week 5: 
Read and build long /e/ words cvce pattern and /ee/ (example: eve, these, see)
Writing long /e/ words 

Week 6: 
Read and build long /a/ words /ay/ and /ey/ pattern (example: day, they)
Writing long /a/ words /ay/ and /ey/ pattern 

Week 6: 
Review cvce (a, e, i, o, u) and /ay/ and /ey/
