This engaging 6-week course will enhance their ability to discuss and critique photographs while exploring new techniques and concepts. Throughout this class, students will: - Discuss and Analyze: Students will sharpen their photographic critique skills, learning to articulate their thoughts on subject, lighting, and composition as they share their own work in a supportive environment. - Explore Photography's History: We will delve into the evolution of photography, contrasting film and digital formats. Students will practice editing alongside the instructor and explore how to capture images that lend themselves well to black-and-white formats. - Engage in Peer Editing: Students will observe the teacher edit their photographs and will have the opportunity to make their own edits during class discussions, focusing on the balance between initial photography choices and post-processing adjustments. - Participate in Challenges: The course will culminate in fun challenge rounds, where students will apply their skills in creative ways. They are encouraged to bring a favorite subject, ideally a living model, for interactive challenges. This course is led by Erika Hatfield, who brings expertise and enthusiasm to every lesson.
