✨New to Outschool? Use code HILAIRE2020 to save $20 on this class!✨ In this semester long, flexible schedule class, students will explore the amazing field of biology. This class does not have any live meetings. However, there will be ample opportunity to interact with the material and the instructor through videos, labs, and class discussions. Each week students will complete a project, lab, or Flipgrid to share with their peers. Students are expected to comment on each others video responses on Flipgrid. For the labs, students will share their lab report with pictures, and they will respond to their peers and discuss the findings and potential conclusions to the labs. They will also have opportunities to work together on research projects which are listed in the weekly breakdown below. They will create a presentation which can be done in a variety of ways such Google Slides or PowerPoint. We will also have class discussions each week to discuss any questions and concepts we enjoyed for the week. Students will receive feedback on all of their assessments and projects. Per parent request, I can provide grades for the classwork and assessments if needed for a credit. Biology is such an interesting and applicable science! We will learn about cells, body systems, DNA, genetics, adaptations, ecosystems, and much more. Students are encouraged to research and investigate topics that interest them and share this with the class. Our second to last week will be a student-interest lead week. We will learn about a topic that interests each student whether that be a current issue in biology, a new topic, or diving deeper into a previous topic.
