This class will center around the student's current needs. For example, if the student needs help on pronunciation and reading more fluently, I will have the student practice reading aloud and will help them with any weak areas they may have (depending on the student's needs, we may review phonics, vocabulary, or practice spelling). We can either use the student's current reading assignment they have from school as practice or something that they personally enjoy reading in their free time. (When the student enjoys the material or is reading about a character they love, it can keep them motivated to practice reading in their free time too!) I want this session to be as tailored and personalized as possible to each learner so please let me know whatever preferences they may have. For learners who would like some writing assistance or feedback with a current writing project, I will offer the student some suggestions and can help the student in either places where they feel stuck or can help them with revising what they may have already written to make it sound better. Feedback is essential to a writer's growth and goes a long way to improve one's writing. For young beginning readers or those who are learning English as a second language, we can work on phonics, pronunciation, and vocabulary building and tailor it to your learner's needs. For students who are preparing a speech, I can check for any grammatical errors and can offer feedback on the learner's modulation, pronunciation, and expression as needed. (Practicing giving a speech in front of someone else is a great way to prepare!) I have helped students ages 5-16 with checking their speeches and I will say that gaining the confidence beforehand plays a big part in a successful delivery! Personal creative projects are also welcomed! For example, if a learner wants to just learn more about poetry, writing stories, reading aloud for recordings, or something else fun, feel free to let me know. I hope to be able to assist each learner according to their personal preferences. (Just communicate with me ahead of time so that I can prepare for the class accordingly.) Note to parents & guardians: I like to suggest that, if possible, you can communicate with me the learner's needs before the day of class so that I can prepare the class time to be focused on whatever area the learner most needs help with. Also, because this is a mini session of only 30 minutes, just be aware that there may not be enough time to go over or revise a full essay/speech depending on the length but we can still do as much as time allows or we can focus on a certain aspect that the learner especially wants to focus on for the given session. If a learner needs any other one on one tutoring assistance related to either reading, writing, or the English language in general, feel free to reach out to me! An example outline for a phonics focused class: Week One: Review of the alphabet and each letter's sounds; look for any weak areas needing practice Week Two: Word families (words ending in ab, ad, ag) Week Three: Digraphs (ch, sh, th) Week Four: Blends (bl, cl, gl) The above is just an example as each parent may request something specific for their learner. Are you wanting to go over both reading and writing in one class? Take a look below at the full session version of this class which will allow more time for going over both aspects! Don't see a day or time convenient for your learner? Feel free to send me a message with your day/time request and I'll do my best to accommodate your learner's scheduling needs. 如果需要用中文跟我来沟通的话,也可以!

Lista de útiles escolares
Students who would like to practice reading using a current book or reading assignment from school should have the reading material ready so that they can read aloud during this session for feedback and assistance. Similarly, students who need assistance with a current writing assignment should have this assignment on hand so that I can either offer feedback on what they wrote or help them on where they left off in the writing process. I recommend that all learners have either a pencil and paper handy (or an electronic device depending on their preference of writing). This way if the student needs to take notes or do a practice exercise they can do so.

Hello! Thank you for clicking on my page to learn more about my classes that are designed for young creatives in mind!
What I Teach:
I hold various creative workshops covering story writing, poetry, journaling, painting, photography, and language learning through art. These are all topics I am personally very passionate about! You will notice here on Outschool that my classes are all one-on-one. This is so that each class can be tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each learner! (I also do small group classes on request for learners who may want to take the class with their friends/classmates/siblings.)
My Teaching Style:
Very interactive! (No boring hour long lecture/power-point presentation style classes here!) My classes are a mixture of discussion based learning & working on projects in class. Each class is unique to the learner enrolled as it is always tailored to each individual child and their needs or preferences.
My Teaching Background:
I began teaching English internationally in 2010 (specializing in speaking & writing) and I started teaching English and holding "Classes for Creatives" workshops on-line in 2020. I have now taught more than 1,800 on-line hours specializing in both creative workshops and private English lessons (ESL, phonics, essay writing, vocabulary, grammar, etc.). I hold a Bachelor's of Principles and Methods of Language Education as well as a TESOL certificate. I’ve worked at several schools in Asia teaching English to children from 1-19 years of age. I have worked in several kindergartens, training schools and have even worked for myself as a private tutor specializing in pre-school education. I love engaging with the minds of young children as they are eager to learn and absorb new knowledge so quickly! I find it very rewarding to see them grow. I enjoy teaching kids and making things fun and colorful for them (while adding humor and toys in of course!).
I have also really enjoyed teaching teenagers in both a classroom group setting as well as in a private home tutoring setting. I have helped teens to improve their essay writing but my personal favorite subject to teach is creative writing! In addition to writing, I have helped several teenagers prepare for their new life of study abroad. To help them feel prepared for college in a new place, part of my curriculum included confidence building and how to make friends. What I especially appreciate about working with teenagers is how they enjoy expressing themselves and sharing their views on a variety of subjects!
My Goal for Learners:
I strive to encourage all my students to continue thinking outside the box to create a meaningful form of self-expression! I firmly believe each individual has the power to be innovative and it's my goal in teaching to help students find new ways to exercise those artistic muscles while building up more confidence in their own creative thinking ability so that they can give their very best and not hold back in whatever original project they are pursuing.
What I'm Currently Learning:
Yes, teachers should be learners as well and I'm always finding new things to research and try! In 2023 I started cake decorating and I LOVE it! My most recent endeavor as of 2024 is website design and while there has been a definite learning curve for me, I am enjoying the process! (Don't worry, I still cake decorate every week in case you're wondering!)
My Personal Interests:
My absolute favorite subjects to discuss are books, creative writing, art, photography, film, fantasy and anything that is fun and imaginative! I love everything that involves the arts, especially when it conveys a message using metaphors and symbolism.
My favorite classes in high school and college were French, Spanish, English, Creative Writing, Drawing & Painting, Drama/Theatre, Photography and American Cinema- all topics I still love! In my free time, I enjoy hosting monthly book clubs and creative art workshops (sometimes hosted in different languages!), as well as hosting fun tea parties (Alice in Wonderland anyone?). My hobbies are reading and writing novels, script writing and filming, experimenting with gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paint, taking way too many photos (I may or may not have a photography addiction) and writing poetry when inspiration hits (which is usually way past my bedtime)!
Don't tell anyone, but one thing I am utterly terrible at is cooking so you will never find me teaching a cooking class or anywhere near a kitchen! (Unless I'm there for cookies of course!)
I am really looking forward to meeting you! Feel free to message me with any questions or suggestions for classes!
