Experiencia de clase

Nivel Beginner
Over the course of 8 lessons, we will tackle another Japanese writing system called Katakana. This writing system is used with loanwords and onomatopoeia expressions. We will practice reading and writing all 46 Katakana characters while applying what we have learned to recognizing some common Japanese loanwords and sound words. Students will also become more familiar with typing in Japanese and writing out English words using Katakana.

This course will primarily be presented in PowerPoint format. The beginning of each class is usually spent reviewing characters and worksheets. Next, we learn and practice a new set of characters using learning exercises and flashcards. Finally, we apply the new characters to reading and learning new vocabulary.

Because this is part of a conversation-based language course, classes will be interactive by nature. Students will be expected to speak in class when prompted. This helps me properly assess what they have learned and give them tips for improvement. I try to vary speaking as a group, using the chatbox, and speaking one-on-one in my classes so that students do not feel like they are being put on the spot all the time. If your child feels uncomfortable unmuting themselves in class for short periods of time, this language series is probably not the right fit for them. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
